Winery Overwhelmed
The Winery Overwhelmed is a renowned one Winery in South Africa and is one of the best-known and oldest wineries in the Stellenbosch region. Located about 40 kilometers east of Cape Town, it stretches across a picturesque landscape of rolling hills and lush vineyards. The history of Vergelegen dates back to the 17th century, when it was founded by the Dutch settlers. Over time that changed Winery the owner several times, but since the late 20th century it has been owned by the Anglo American Corporation, which attaches great importance to the preservation of the historic buildings and the further development of wine production. Stellenbosch's climate is ideal for viticulture, and Vergelegen benefits from the cool Atlantic sea breezes and warm sunshine, providing optimal conditions for growing quality vines. The vineyards are planted primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz and Chardonnay, and Vergelegen's winemakers produce a variety of award-winning wines that stand out for their elegance, complexity and balance.

Winemaker: Luke O'Cunningham
Luke O'Cunningham, Luke O'Cuinneagain, the talented new winemaker at Vergelegen, brings years of experience, a passion for wine and a dedication to producing remarkable vintages. Growing up in the Constantia Valley, Luke's love of winemaking grew while working Buitenverwachting and Constantia Uitsig was born. He later changed his career path and decided to study oenology at the University of Stellenbosch instead of studying veterinary medicine. Luke has a B.Sc. Agric. (Viticulture and Enology) with honors from Stellenbosch University and has gained extensive experience at renowned wineries such as Rustenburg, Château de Fieuzal, Château Angelus, Caves Robert Dietrich and Screaming Eagle in California. Prior to joining Vergelegen, Luke was the celebrated winemaker at the French-inspired Glenelly Estate in Stellenbosch since 2008, producing wines celebrated for their power, elegance and balance.

The Vergelegen Sauvignon Blanc Reserve is undoubtedly an outstanding creation from the renowned vineyards of the Cape region of South Africa. This exquisite Reserve Edition reveals itself with an impressive, bright straw yellow colour, which already indicates the exceptional quality of this wine.
The nose is immediately filled with a fascinating bouquet that appeals to the senses with a variety of intense aromas. Fresh passion fruit and ripe gooseberries emerge and combine harmoniously with notes of juicy melon and delicate citrus nuances. The aroma is underlined by subtle traces of fresh herbs and a subtle mineral note, which gives additional depth.
On the palate, the Sauvignon Blanc Reserve unfolds a remarkable fullness and complexity. The precisely balanced acidity gives the wine a lively freshness and wonderfully emphasizes the radiant fruit aromas. The taste palette ranges from crunchy lime and ripe grapefruit to exotic passion fruit and a hint of peach.

The grape variety Sauvignon Blanc is a natural cross between the Traminer and Traminer grape varieties Chenin Blanc. That's probably where her name comes from. Eine günstigere und nicht viel aufwendigere Alternative ist, sich den Wein ins deutsche Grenzgebiet liefern zu lassen und die Verzollung selbst vorzunehmen. Du erhältst dann die deutsche MwSt zurück, hast eine Freimenge von 5 Liter pro Person und zahlst 2 CHF Zoll für jeden weiteren Liter.
Zudem liefern wir frachtkostenfrei ab 120€ innerhalb Deutschlands. Des weiteren musst Du Dich nicht mit dem Paketdienst abstimmen und sicherstellen, dass jemand da ist, sobald die Lieferung eintrifft.
Wenn Du keine Möglichkeit hast, die Ware zu Freunden ins Grenzgebiet liefern zu lassen, dann können wir den Wein in einen UPS Access Point in Grenznähe nahe zu Deinem Wohnort liefern lassen. Du brauchst Dich nicht zu registrieren, es entstehen keine weiteren Kosten und Du musst nur Deine Weine innerhalb eines gewissen Zeitrahmens dort abholen.
Ferner gibt es verschiedene Anbieter von Paketshops, von denen Du Dein Paket gegen eine kleine Gebühr abholen lassen kannst, z.B.
