Ken Forrester Wines
The Winery Ken Forrester, founded 1993, is famous for its outstanding achievements in wine growing, especially for the Chenin Blanc, which earned its founder Ken Forrester the nickname "King of Chenin". Located in the renowned Stellenbosch wine region, the estate has built an excellent reputation for its high-quality wines that reflect the region's unique terroir.
In addition to the award-winning Chenin Blanc, the Winery also delights with other grape varieties such as the fruity Sauvignon Blanc and the elegant Chardonnay. The portfolio is rounded out with red wines, including the spicy Shiraz and the distinctive Merlot.
Particularly noteworthy are the highly praised Rhône-style cuvées, which highlight the winery's passion and commitment to exceptional quality.

The The Gypsy from the Winery Ken Forrester is a wild-spicy and complex Rhône blend of 65% Grenache, 35% Syrah. Highly concentrated and with deep expression, it is among the top red wines from Stellenbosch.
The nose is dominated by intense aromas of wild red berries, accompanied by cinnamon, nutmeg, dark spice nuances, and subtle vanilla – an almost mystical impression. On the palate, velvety tannins and a long, spicy finish appear.
The grapes were handpicked and selected multiple times. After cool pre-fermentation, the wine matured for 12 months in old French barriques, was selected again, and spent another 12 months aging in wood – a total of about 24 months barrique aging. A statement wine with compelling density and great aging potential.

Grenache and Syrah
This cuvée combines the red fruit of Grenache with the dark berries and peppery notes of Syrah. Grenache often contributes ripe raspberry and cherry aromas, warmth and a rounded body with relatively mild acidity and soft tannins. Syrah adds depth of colour, firmer tannins and usually more refreshing acidity. This creates a fruit-driven, spicy red winewhose fullness is balanced by structure. Syrah’s tannin framework can support ageing potential; grape quality and ageing remain decisive.
This combination is typical of the southern Rhône and the Languedoc, as well as Australian red wine cuvées. In the glass, it usually shows a deep ruby red, occasionally with violet hues. The style ranges from juicy and approachable to dense and age-worthy; with age, leathery and earthy notes may develop. It pairs well with dishes such as braised meat or spicy vegetable dishes.
