Reichsrat von Buhl
The Reichsrat von Buhl Winery was founded in 1849 by Franz Peter Buhl and quickly earned the highest recognition for its uncompromising quality. A Riesling from von Buhl was even served at the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869, underscoring its international renown at the time. Today, the winery, located in the Mittelhaardt , preserves this heritage and tradition.
The philosophy of Reichsrat von Buhl has always been one of timeless, terroir-driven style, reflecting the origin of the grapes. Under the direction of cellar master Simone Frigerio , the character of each grape variety is brought into the glass unchanged. Since 2013, the winery has been certified organic and has focused on natural, sustainable viticulture to produce wines of elegance and complexity.
The vineyards of Reichsrat von Buhl include top plots in the Grand Cru vineyard Ungeheuer. These unique soils shape the wines and give them a distinctive expressiveness, already admired by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy , who said: “Anyone who does not know the Buhl estate does not know what Forster Riesling is.”
This elegant Riesling from the Palatinate comes from the Herrgottsacker premier cru vineyard of Reichsrat von Buhl winery. It is considered a classic example of the region, standing out for its fine acidity, minerality and delicate character. With aromas of ripe apricot, peach and mirabelle plum, this wine is sure to make for memorable moments in good company.

Riesling
Riesling is characterised by vibrant acidity and a precise, versatile array of aromas. Typical notes include citrus fruit, green apple and peach, sometimes complemented by apricot or floral notes, depending on ripeness. In the glass, the wine is usually pale yellow with greenish reflections; riper or botrytised sweet styles can glow golden yellow. The structure ranges from lean and linear to rich and smooth. Tannins usually play little part, while acidity and fruit sweetness define the balance.
Important growing regions include Germany, such as the Mosel, Rhine and Nahe, as well as Alsace and Austria. The range of styles extends from dry to botrytised sweet. Cooler sites often favour citrus freshness, while warmer locations tend to produce riper fruit. With bottle age, notes of honey and petrol can develop. Riesling pairs well with fish and vegetable dishes, and, with a touch of residual sweetness, spicy foods too.
