Constantia Glen
Picturesque Winery Constantia Glen was founded in 2000 and is perched high on the slopes of Constantia with sweeping views over the valley. It is known for its elegant Bordeaux-style red and white wines made from grapes grown in the cool vineyards of the Bordeaux style, die aus Trauben von den kühlen Weinbergen der Constantia wine region gekeltert werden.
Constantia Glen Winery focuses on sustainable farming to preserve the unique terroir character of its wines and ensure their outstanding quality. The combination of maritime influences and a cool climate encourages the slow ripening of grapes such as Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, resulting in wines with notable finesse and structure. A commitment to craftsmanship and respect for nature shape the philosophy of Constantia Glen.
Nose: Expect aromas of nectarine and beeswax, with floral notes of jasmine and orange blossom. Palate: The palate is structured yet retains good balance, drinkability and a long, spicy finish.
Vintage: Production of this vintage was just over 3,000 bottles. Vinification: This is a skin-contact white wine, made using methods similar to traditional red winemaking, with the white grapes remaining in contact with the fermenting must throughout alcoholic fermentation. Extraction from the grape skins is also enhanced by pump-overs and punch-downs during fermentation to achieve optimal tannin and flavour extraction.
The three grape varieties were vinified and matured separately, with the blend assembled shortly before bottling. After alcoholic fermentation, the grapes were pressed in a basket press and the wine was transferred to French oak barrels to complete malolactic fermentation.
Grape varieties: Chenin Blanc, Viognier, Semillon
Region: Constantia
Alcohol: 13.5%
Bottle size: 750ml (Standard)
Closure: Natural Cork
Drinking window: until 2031
