Grape variety Viognier
Viognier originates from the Rhône Valley and produces aromatic white wines with a rich texture. In Stellenbosch, many hours of sunshine and maritime influence combine ripe fruit with invigorating freshness. Typical aromas are apricot, peach, orange blossom, acacia blossom and a hint of honey or chamomile. On the palate Viognier often feels creamy and rounded with moderate acidity. In stainless steel tanks it shows a fragrant, direct character. A short maturation in predominantly used barriques brings more richness, fine spice notes and length without masking the varietal character.
