WHO ARE WE?

The idea for The WineStore was born during a trip to South Africa in our university summer break.

We (Max & Moritz) discovered a taste for South African wine and the joyful lifestyle of the region. We asked ourselves: Why is it so hard to get Chenin Blancs, Pinotages or Sauvignons from the southern tip of Africa into our shelves and glasses back home in Munich? That wine-driven question and a rather focused thirst were the beginning of Max and Moritz's very first adventure – founding an online wine shop entirely focused on South Africa, called The WineStore.

What drives us

At The WineStore, everything revolves around true closeness. Closeness to the wineries we work closely with, closeness to the places where remarkable wines are born, and closeness to the people who make them with passion. We regularly visit many of our partners in person. We get to know their methods, speak directly with the teams on site, and make sure both quality and fair working conditions are ensured. Only what we can vouch for ourselves ends up in your glass.

Our roots are in South Africa. In regions like Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Constantia, we collaborate with outstanding wineries such as Kleine Zalze, Holden Manz, and La Motte. These partnerships are built on trust, top-level quality, and a shared passion for wine that you can truly taste.

At the same time, we’re expanding our assortment step by step. But our standards remain unchanged. Every wine in our selection represents authenticity, care, and character.

Whether in our online shop or in our bars, we want to show you how much craft and personality can be found in a single bottle. With wines that tell stories and with people who carry them forward.
