Cap Classique: South Africa's Answer to Champagne

Welcome to the dazzling world of South African sparkling wines! At its heart is the Méthode Cap Classique, or MCC for short. This isn't a grape variety, but South Africa's term for premium sparkling wines made in the traditional method of bottle fermentation – just like Champagne. Regions like Franschhoek, home to top producers such as Boschendal and Haute Cabrière, and Stellenbosch are renowned for their outstanding Cap Classiques. These areas benefit from cool sea breezes or nocturnal temperature drops, creating ideal conditions for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for sparkling wine production.
