The Winery & Terroir
The name 'Eenzaamheid' is Dutch for 'solitude'. It aptly describes the secluded location of this estate in Agter-Paarl, a special part of the famous Paarl wine region in South Africa. This seclusion allows for winemaking that is entirely focused on expressing the unique terroir. The climate is warm and dry, creating ideal conditions for ripening intense and flavourful grapes. The soils, often composed of granite and shale, give the wines a remarkable structure and minerality. The wines of Eenzaamheid are therefore not quiet companions, but powerful statements that proudly present their origin.
Wine Lines in Our Selection
In our range, you will find a focused selection that reflects the essence of Eenzaamheid. Each wine is a single-varietal expression of its location. The Chenin Blanc shows its fruity and aromatic side, yet always remains structured and profound. It is a prime example of the modern interpretation of this South African flagship grape. Alongside it are the two powerful red wines: the classic South African Pinotage and the internationally renowned Shiraz. Both wines are classified as 'powerful & full-bodied' and impress with ripe tannins, intense fruit, and the unmistakable character shaped by Paarl's sunny climate.
Food Pairing
The characterful wines of Eenzaamheid are ideal food companions. The Chenin Blanc harmonises wonderfully with grilled chicken, fish dishes, or slightly spicy Asian cuisine. The Pinotage is the perfect partner for a South African Braai (barbecue), but also pairs excellently with hearty stews and game dishes. The Shiraz, with its peppery note and robust structure, calls for equally intense flavours like rack of lamb, roast beef, or aged hard cheese.
