Wine guideMarianne Estate: A Homage to France at the Cape
The Estate & Terroir
Marianne Estate is a gem in the famous Stellenbosch wine region, located on the slopes of the Simonsberg mountain. The name itself, an allusion to the symbolic figure of the French Republic, reveals the winery's philosophy: to combine French elegance and viticultural art with the unique terroir of South Africa. This is where wines are created that unite the best of two worlds – the structure and finesse of the Old World and the intense fruit and power of the New World. The soils and the Mediterranean climate provide ideal conditions for growing premium grape varieties, especially classic Bordeaux varieties and Shiraz.
Wine Ranges in our Selection
Our range of Marianne wines reflects this French inspiration. The flagships are the complex, Bordeaux-style red blends. The 'Floreal' is often a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and other varieties, known for its depth and longevity. The 'Desirade' is another impressive cuvée that wonderfully balances power and elegance. Alongside these flagships, you will also find an excellent selection of single varietal wines. Discover the robust Cabernet Sauvignon, the spicy Shiraz, the velvety Merlot, or the South African classic Pinotage. The portfolio is rounded out by a fresh Sauvignon Blanc and an elegant Rosé.
Food Pairing
Marianne wines are versatile food companions. The powerful red wines like Floreal or Cabernet Sauvignon pair perfectly with grilled beef steak, rack of lamb, or hearty stews. A Shiraz harmonises wonderfully with spicy dishes or game birds. The softer Merlot is a delight with pasta or mushroom risotto. The Sauvignon Blanc is the ideal choice for fresh salads, fish, seafood, or goat cheese, while the Rosé shines as an aperitif or with light summer dishes.
Price Range
The high-quality wines from Marianne Estate are available in our online shop from about €16, offering excellent value for their quality and character.
