STELLENBOSCH WINE REGION

Stellenbosch is South Africa's best-known wine region and accounts for almost a fifth of South Africa's wine production. The dry and hot climate produces excellent red wines that are famous all over the world, especially the Cabernet Sauvignon from Stellenbosch is particularly popular. The side closer to the coast is used for white wine cultivation because of the cool breeze from the south-east. Due to the diverse vegetation of Stellenbosch, different "wards" are created, each with a unique wine aroma. "Wards" are the 7 regions that Stellenbosch is divided into.

STORY

After Cape Town, Stellenbosch is the oldest region in South Africa settled by Europeans. Initially it was a small town of 20,000 inhabitants with houses built in the Dutch style. But the village quickly developed into the focal point of South African viticulture. The wine lover and governor Simon van der Stel. encouraged Dutch settlers to settle and cultivate the land in Stellenbosch in the late 17th century. They followed his advice and the pioneers quickly planted large oak forests and increasingly turned to viticulture.

ACTIVITIES

Stellenbosch is the ultimate wine paradise. Restaurants and hotels with a view of the wineries ensure a wonderful holiday. You can book tours through the South African landscapes or take a look at the winemaking process. Stellenbosch has outstanding vegetation but also towns with small cafes and art galleries.
