Viognier grape variety
Viognier originates in the Rhône Valley and produces aromatic white wines with a rich texture. In Stellenbosch, abundant sunshine and maritime influence combine ripe fruit with lively freshness. Typical aromas include apricot, peach, orange blossom, acacia blossom and a hint of honey or chamomile. On the palate, Viognier is often creamy and rounded, with moderate acidity. In stainless steel, it is fragrant and focused. A brief period of ageing, mostly in used barriques, adds richness, delicate spice notes and length without overshadowing the varietal character.
