Max & Moritz
What began as a shared passion for exceptional wines has grown into one of Germany’s leading destinations for South African wine. With their wine bars, Max & Moritz combine contemporary hospitality, high-quality cuisine and one of Europe’s largest selections of South African wines.
Each wine bar shares the same goal: to make wine easy-going, accessible and enjoyable. Rather than a traditional wine shop, guests can expect a relaxed atmosphere, personal advice and the opportunity to discover special wines by the glass or bottle—from hidden gems produced by small family wineries to internationally acclaimed premium wines.
With locations in Munich, Max & Moritz create places for foodies, travellers and wine lovers where quality, hospitality and authentic experiences take centre stage. Regular wine tastings, exclusive events and close partnerships with renowned wineries from South Africa make each wine bar a meeting place for anyone who wants to discover wine in a new way.
Today, The WineStore imports wines from more than 50 South African wineries directly to Germany. This close collaboration enables Max & Moritz to offer many wines exclusively and delight their guests with a selection that goes far beyond the classic range.
Whether you’re enjoying a glass of wine after work, a special evening with friends or a guided tasting, the Max & Moritz wine bars stand for genuine hospitality, exceptional wines and the allure of South Africa—in the heart of Munich.

100% Pinot Gris
Grauburgunder is typically a round, full-bodied white wine style with aromas of pear, ripe apple and yellow fruit , often complemented by nutty notes. Its relatively mild to moderateacidity combines with a smooth texture; tannins remain in the background with classic white wine production. In the glass, the grape variety usually displays pale yellow to golden-yellow hues. Extended skin contact can also produce copper-coloured tones and a noticeable bitter grip due to the reddish-coloured grape skins. Typical growing regions include
Germany , particularly Baden, the Palatinate and Rheinhessen, as well asAlsace and Northern Italy . The style ranges from fresh and linear to full-bodied, creamy and shaped by oak ageing. Alongside dry versions, wines with residual sweetness are also produced. Grauburgunder pairs well with vegetable dishes, fish, poultry and mild cheeses..
