Refreshing and fruity, the Backsberg Family Wines Summer Berry Rosé delights with aromas of juicy strawberries and lively grapefruit, rounded off with subtle citrus notes.
Made from Grenache Noir and Pinotage grapes and matured in stainless steel tanks, this dry rosé is perfect for balmy summer evenings. A real treat!

Grenache Noir and Pinotage
In this cuvée, the red fruit of Grenache Noir comes together with the dark berries and plums of Pinotage. Grenache Noir often contributes ripe cherry, spicy nuances and soft fullness; Pinotage complements these with denser fruit, body and a more pronounced tannin structure. Both often show moderate acidity, which depends greatly on the vineyard site and harvest timing. The result can be a full-bodied, spicy-fruited red wine whose tannins feel integrated by the generous fruit.
Grenache Noir is particularly widespread in southern France and Spain , while Pinotage is found mainly in South Africa. This pairing is not a classically established cuvée style. In the glass, its colour ranges from ruby red to dark red, depending on ageing and extraction. Fruit concentration and tannin can combine to create ageing potential; acidity and ageing also play a part. This style of wine pairs well with hearty vegetable dishes or roasted meat.
