From the cool Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, just a stone’s throw from the Atlantic, the Hasher Family brings a Sauvignon Blanc to the glass that captures South Africa’s maritime freshness in its purest form. The grapes from two hand-picked coastal parcels reveal the maritime energy of this coastal region with remarkable clarity and finesse. In the glass, it shines pale straw yellow, opening with fresh fennel, wild herbs and cool flint. Delicate white almonds join in, along with a subtle note of salty piquancy reminiscent of fresh oysters, unmistakably revealing its proximity to the sea. On the palate, the wine builds like a wave: A taut acidity of 5.6 grams meets an exceptionally dry 1.9 grams of residual sugar, while six months of Aged in concrete eggs and used oak provide supple texture. Balanced by 13.29% alcohol and a pH of 3.33, the sip culminates in a long, mouthwatering salty finish.
