Tasting Note

The Barbera red wine from Idiom Winery has an aromatic nose of ripe, dark cherries, underpinned by cedar and a hint of tobacco. Delicate notes of cassis add further depth and tension. On the palate, the Barbera shows dense, juicy fruit with precise, lively acidity. The texture is silky, yet with a firm core that lends structure and length. Subtle oak contributes notes of spice and cedar shavings without overshadowing the fruit. The finish is long, darkly spiced and elegant.

Composition:

100% Barbera

Barbera grape variety

Barbera comes from Piedmont and is known for its juicy fruit and lively acidity. Typical aromas include red cherry, plum, violet and a hint of spice. On the palate, Barbera is medium-bodied with low to moderate tannins, making it especially inviting to drink. Aged in stainless steel, it shows bright freshness and precise fruit; a short period in oak adds delicate notes of cedar, cocoa and greater depth. In Stellenbosch, Barbera combines ripe red fruit with good tension and a long, juicy finish. It pairs versatilely with Italian cuisine, ragù, Pizza Funghi, grilled meat and mushroom dishes.
