Old Road Wine

The Old Road Wine Company was founded in the heart of the Franschhoek-valley in South Africa. The winery pursues the vision of creating wines that reflect both the rich history and the unique terroir of this renowned wine region. A special focus is on producing quality wines that express the valley’s distinctive climate and soils.

Known for its diverse grape varieties, these are carefully selected and cultivated. Among the standout varieties are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc, which highlight the quality of the white wines. For its red wines, in particular Pinotage, Shiraz and Pinot Noir.

The Old Road Wine Company combines tradition with modern winemaking techniques to deliver wines with character and finesse.

From the grapes of the Syrah or Shiraz variety, two different styles emerge depending on the origin of the wine and the aging process in the Winery. These differ significantly from each other in both aroma and taste.

The Shiraz wines have a very strong and fruit-forward taste with aromas of cherries and plums. Additionally, aromas of dark Chocolate are typical for Shiraz wines.

The Syrah wines have a rather slim and elegant character in comparison. Additionally, Syrah wines are characterized by a spicy taste. Syrah wines also often exhibit subtle wood notes and typical aromas such as cloves, cinnamon, pepper, forest floor, or leather.

Both wine styles are characterized by a complex aroma and a racy character.
