Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons
The Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons are a well-known collaboration between two prestigious families, founded in 1997. Located in the famous South African wine region, the Franschhoek Winery is dedicated to creating elegant wines, often in the style of classic Bordeaux blends. The winery "Rupert & Rothschild" places great emphasis on the harmony of tradition and innovation, to produce wines of exceptional quality and finesse.
The wines are known for their complex character and their ability to age. Cuvées such as the Classique and the Baron Edmondare particularly noteworthy and typically bring together grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc . The varietal Chardonnay also enjoys great popularity.
Since their founding, the vignerons have established themselves as a fixture in South Africa's wine landscape and enjoy a strong international reputation. A visit gives you the opportunity to discover the unique creations of this renowned house and learn more about its rich history and philosophy.
A classic Bordeaux blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. It has a very intense, almost dark ruby red color. The aroma is spicy with young notes of sweet wood and then blueberry and cinnamon, completing a rather austere and aristocratic bouquet. In the mouth, the tannins are already fine and about to solidify, while the acidity is excellent and refreshing, supporting the body, making the wine easy to drink.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot & Cabernet Franc
This cuvée combines dark fruit, spicy freshness and supporting structure. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot complement each other with aromas of blackcurrant, cherry and plum: While the former generally contributes colour and firm tannins, Merlot often brings fullness and a softer texture. Cabernet Franc often adds herbaceous, finely peppery accents and supports the freshness. Acidity and tannins give the blend definition without any one variety needing to dominate the flavour.
The combination is particularly well known from Bordeaux , but is also found in Tuscany and other international wine regions. In the glass, it is usually ruby red to deep dark red. Depending on the climate and ageing, the style ranges from fresh and focused to full-bodied and smooth; oak can contribute additional toasted and spicy notes. It pairs well with roasted meat, mushroom dishes or mature cheese.
