Fryer's Cove
Fryer's Cove is the only Winery in the region Bamboes Bay, South Africa’s smallest wine-growing region. The vines stretch across the hills, just 500 metres from the Atlantic coast. The unique location near the fishing village of Doringbaai, shaped by cool sea breezes and rugged terroir, gives the wines, especially South African Sauvignon Blanc, their distinctive maritime character. The philosophy “Forged of the earth, Tempered by the sea” reflects the close connection with nature.
These special climatic conditions create an ideal environment for growing varieties such as South African Chenin Blanc and South African Pinot Noir. Alongside Sauvignon Blanc , Grenache and Cinsault are also grown. The Winery is the closest to the sea in South Africa, which is clearly reflected in the taste of the wines.
The Jetty Restaurant is part of the Fryer's Cove Community Development Project and offers the opportunity to enjoy the wines in their natural setting, paired with local specialities such as Snoekkoekies or Kerrievis.

Pinot Noir
The Pinot Noir, also known as Spätburgunder, is one of the world’s noblest and most demanding red wine grape varieties. It is distinguished by its pale ruby-red to brick-red colour . The bouquet is complex, with aromas of red berries such as cherry, raspberry and strawberry, often complemented by spicy notes, earthy tones or hints of forest floor with age. The wines are generally elegant, medium-bodied wines , but they can also be powerful and complex.
Typical growing regions include the French Burgundy, as well as Germany, Oregon, California and South Africa, all of which produce outstanding Pinot Noir. Styles range from fruit-forward and fresh to complex and mature, often refined through barrel ageing, which can contribute notes of vanilla or roasted coffee.
Pinot Noir offers a fine balance of fruit and acidity and is a versatile food pairing choice. It pairs well with poultry, mushroom dishes, white meat and mild cheese.
