From the cool Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, just a stone’s throw from the Atlantic, the Hasher Family brings a Sauvignon Blanc to your glass that captures the maritime freshness of South Africa in its purest form. Grapes from two hand-picked coastal parcels reveal the pure maritime energy of this coastal region with remarkable clarity and finesse. It shines pale straw yellow in the glass, opening with fresh fennel, wild herbs and cool flint. Delicate white almonds join in, along with a subtle hint of salty, fresh-oyster-like piquancy that unmistakably speaks of its proximity to the sea. On the palate, the wine builds like a wave: a brisk 5.6 grams of acidity meets just 1.9 grams of residual sugar, while six months of aging in concrete eggs and used oak lend a supple texture. Balanced by 13.29% alcohol and a pH of 3.33, the sip finishes with a long, mouthwatering, salty finish.
