Winery La Motte
The grapes used to make La Motte wines come from both the La Motte estate and other selected farms in the Cape Winelands. Thanks to the great diversity of terroirs, grapes from each region make a unique contribution to the flavour profile of La Motte wines. La Motte’s Nabot farm in the coastal Walker Bay region is an organic farm. The unique charm of La Motte wines comes from the character imparted by distinctive soil types and a temperate climate. This creates growing conditions that favour the finest grapes. La Motte’s well-equipped cellar enables the winemakers to combine tradition with modern science to produce wines renowned worldwide for their consistency and excellence.
Introducing La Motte
Located in the beautiful Franschhoek Valley, the Winery La Motte hosts internationally recognized wines of exceptional quality. With its stunning view of the mountain range, traditional cuisine, and historical charm, it is therefore a place for those interested in the finer things in life. La Motte has a long history. The descendant of the Huguenot Gabriel du Toit planted the first vines on the current estate as early as 1752.
Today, the Winery belongs to Hanneli Rupert-Koegelenberg, one of South Africa's best mezzo-soprano singers, and her husband Hein Koegelenberg.
