This cuvée combines red and dark berry fruit with spice and a supple to grippy structure, depending on ageing. Grenache and Cinsault primarily contribute juicy fruit; Grenache can also add body and warmth, while Cinsault tends to bring lightness and fragrant freshness. Mourvedre and Shiraz add colour, tannin and spicy depth, with notes such as pepper or herbs. Acidity depends largely on the site and harvest timing; freshness also comes from the interplay of fruit and structure.

The varieties are found, among other places, in southern France, South Africa and Australia , although this combination does not point to one specific origin. As a red wine, the cuvée can range in the glass from ruby red to deep, dark hues, and can be fruit-forward or more full-bodied; rosé styles are also possible. Depending on its intensity, it pairs well with vegetable dishes, grilled food or spicy stews.
