The Diemersdal Pinotage Reserve is a high-quality red wine from South Africa, produced by the renowned Diemersdal Wine Estate. This wine is a reserve version of the Pinotage grape, considered one of South Africa's most distinctive grape varieties.
The Diemersdal Pinotage Reserve is made from 100% Pinotage grapes grown in the estate's vineyards. Pinotage is a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault and has taken on special significance in South Africa.
In the glass, the Diemersdal Pinotage Reserve often displays a deep ruby-red colour. The nose reveals complex aromas of ripe dark berries, such as black cherries, blackberries and blueberries. These aromas are accompanied by spicy notes of pepper, cedarwood and a subtle smokiness. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and concentrated, with ripe tannins and balanced acidity. It has good structure and a long finish.

Pinotage
Single-varietal Pinotage has a distinctive character, with aromas of dark cherries, plums and blackberries, often complemented by earthy or spicy notes. In the glass, it is usually a deep ruby red to purple. A medium to full body, noticeable tannin and generally moderate acidity define its structure. Depending on how it is aged, smoky hints and notes of coffee or chocolate may emerge, though these do not characterize every wine.
Its most important home is South Africa, especially the wine regions of Stellenbosch, Paarl and Swartland. Styles range from juicy, fruit-forward, more approachable red wines to concentrated, oak-influenced versions with firmer tannins. Fruit, spice and tannin shape the interplay, while vineyard location and winemaking influence freshness and density. It pairs well with pan-fried or grilled meat, spicy vegetable dishes and aged cheese.
