With the Marimist Chardonnay 2023, Hasher Family Wines perfectly captures the terroir of the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley: on weathered granite clay and quartzite, just five kilometres from the Atlantic, a taut yet wonderfully creamy Chardonnay full of energy is born.
In the glass, it reveals a layered bouquet of white pear, apricot and delicate citrus blossom. Fine nuances of toasted coconut flakes and elegant spice join in, shaped by nine months of lees ageing in French oak barrels.
On the palate, a generous, concentrated texture meets vibrant freshness and an invigorating 5.6 grams of acidity. Complete malolactic fermentation lends it a supple creaminess before it finishes with a lively lemon finale and a cool, salty drive.
Serve this wine chilled at 8 to 12 °C to experience its full depth and elegance. It is a masterful partner for sophisticated fish dishes and pairs beautifully with pan-fried scallops in lemon butter or creamy shellfish risotto.
