Kleinood
The South African Winery Kleinood is located in the remote and picturesque Bot River Region, where it has been run with dedication by Gerard de Villiers and his family since its founding in 2000. The Bot River Region is known for its cool breezes from the Atlantic, which create ideal conditions for growing grape varieties inspired by Mediterranean climates. This is reflected in wines of great elegance and freshness. Kleinood is committed to producing wines that reflect the region’s unique terroir and biodiversity.
Vineyard management follows sustainable principles to protect and nurture the natural environment. The winery focuses on producing quality wines that are authentic and expressive. A particular hallmark is its specialisation in the grape variety Shiraz.
The winery is especially known for its Tambourine Mountain Syrah, which captures the essence of the winery and the region. These wines are made thoughtfully and with respect for nature, resulting in distinctive quality that delights both connoisseurs and newcomers.

The violet-ruby colour of the John Spicer Syrah gives a good indication of what to expect from the spectacular 2018 vintage. The wonderful nose offers intense aromas of dark fruit, cherries and blackcurrants, followed by enchanting violets and spice. The velvety entry is followed by the freshness and elegance typical of Kleinood. This complex wine confidently expresses the integrated French oak, with notes of tobacco and fresh leather. Its mid-palate power proudly claims Stellenbosch as its origin. A wonderfully lingering finish ensures that this wine will be an unforgettable experience, both now and for many years to come.

Shiraz
Shiraz, also known internationally as Syrah, is a dark grape varietythat produces powerful and spicy, fruity red wines In the glass, Shiraz wines often display a deep, dark colour and show pronounced structure on the palate. Typical aromas range from dark berries such as Blackberry and black cherry to pepper, cloves, smoke and notes of leather or Chocolate.
The wines are often distinguished by firm tannins and moderate to good acidity, giving them excellent ageing potential. Their style varies by origin: while the New World (Australia, South Africa) often tends towards more opulent, fruit-forward expressions, wines from the Northern Rhône (France) are usually more elegant and peppery.
Shiraz is a versatile partner for robust dishes such as grilled meats, game or spicy stews.
