Winery Graham Beck
Already in the 1970s, the Robertson region became known in the wine industry for its unique terroir. Similar to the world-famous Champagne in France, this special place has the potential to produce world-class sparkling wine. The exceptional climate, combined with the rich limestone soils, produces first-class wines of outstanding quality. The foundation for the success of the Winery Graham Beck was laid in 1983. The founder Graham Beck Madeba purchased the eponymous Winery near the picturesque town of Robertson in the Western Cape. Cellar master Pieter "Bubbles" Ferreira joined the winery in 1990 and has been part of the team since the first vintage. Even then, the two were surprised by the quality of the base wines and worked hard to create a solid foundation for wines in the Cap Classique style. At the Winery Graham Beck, great care is taken to harmonize the different microclimates and various soil types with the most suitable grape varieties.
Tasting notes
The MCC Brut Rosé from the winery Graham Beck characterized by inviting aromas of raspberry, cherry and blueberry out of. This taste explosion is from delicately spicy and slightly earthy tones as well as echoes of herbs underlined.
The very fine acidity and the lively perlage provide for one excellent freshness. The tender enamel on the palate creates a very pleasant and long-lasting finish.
Grape Variety
Chenin Blanc is a widely cultivated, old white wine grape variety that has been grown in France (in Anjou – Touraine) since the 9th century. Compared to other white wine grape varieties, this variety is very productive. This leads to a very high quality of the white wine when reduced on the vine.
In South Africa, Chenin Blanc is the most widely grown white wine grape variety. The reason for this is primarily the very high diversity. For example, there are "wild-growing" vines (so-called Bush Vines) that are usually not irrigated. For this reason, the vines penetrate very deep into the ground with their roots to reach water. These Chenin Blancs therefore have a stronger depth and complexity.
The grape variety can also be aged very fresh and fruity in stainless steel tanks, developing into a very nice summer wine. Through the Aged in oak barrels, one obtains very complex and full-bodied white wines. The aromas of Chenin Blanc wines range from peach, apricot, and tropical fruits to honey and melon.
Ratings
