Ken Forrester Wines
The Winery Ken Forrester, founded 1993, is famous for its outstanding achievements in wine growing, especially for the Chenin Blanc, which earned its founder Ken Forrester the nickname "King of Chenin". Located in the renowned Stellenbosch wine region, the estate has built an excellent reputation for its high-quality wines that reflect the region's unique terroir.
In addition to the award-winning Chenin Blanc, the Winery also delights with other grape varieties such as the fruity Sauvignon Blanc and the elegant Chardonnay. The portfolio is rounded out with red wines, including the spicy Shiraz and the distinctive Merlot.
Particularly noteworthy are the highly praised Rhône-style cuvées, which highlight the winery's passion and commitment to exceptional quality.

The Reserve Renegade from the Winery Ken Forrester is an impressive Rhône blend with structured depth and a velvety finish. This complex mix of Shiraz, Grenache, and Mourvèdre combines South African fruit with classic elegance.
The nose reveals concentrated aromas of wild red berries, along with spicy-peppery nuances such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and licorice. The rounded palate carries a fine note of salty black olives and subtle smoke.
The grapes are hand-picked and gently fermented in open tanks. Afterwards, the wine matures for about 18 months in French barriques (2nd–3rd use), which gives it its dense structure and elegant balance.

Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvèdre
This cuvée combines juicy fruit, spice and supporting structure. Grenache often contributes red berries, ripe sweetness on the palate and a rounded body; Shiraz adds dark berries, pepper and depth of colour. Together with Mourvèdre, Shiraz provides tannin and backbone. Mourvèdre can also bring earthy, herbal and savoury notes that deepen the fruit profile.
The combination is particularly common in the southern Rhône and in South Africa. Depending on the location and ageing, the style ranges from approachable and fruit-forward to powerful and tannic. The freshness depends heavily on the climate and harvest date; Shiraz can contribute supporting acidity, while Grenache often tends to be softer.
In the glass, the cuvée is usually ruby red to deep dark red, rounded to full-bodied on the palate with a spicy finish. It pairs well with grilled meat, legumes or braised vegetables.
