Leopards Leap Family Vineyards
Winery Leopard's Leap in the sun-drenched Franschhoek wine region is known for its approachable quality wines and family-friendly atmosphere. The estate combines winemaking with food, and places great importance on sustainability to preserve the natural beauty of the Cape province.
As the namesake and symbol, the critically endangered Cape leopard is featured, and its protection is actively supported. The philosophy of promoting a “worthy life” is reflected in the quality of the wines.
The main grape varieties are the fresh Chenin Blanc from South Africa and the characteristic Pinotage from South Africa.
Translation missing: en.Tasting notes
The Leopard's Leap Shiraz from the Franschhoek region in South Africa impresses with lively aromas of blackcurrants and blackberries, underlined by vanilla and cinnamon. On the palate, a harmonious interplay of dark fruits and subtle oak spice notes unfolds, supported by a well structured tannin structure, culminating in a long-lasting finish.

Pinotage and Shiraz
This cuvée combines the dark fruit of Pinotage with the peppery spice of Shiraz. Pinotage often contributes plum and cherry aromas, grippy tannins and a full body; Shiraz adds blackberry notes, spicy depth and additional richness. Both can provide substantial tannins, whose interplay ranges from smooth to pronounced depending on ripeness and Aged. Acidity depends heavily on the site and harvest date: Shiraz harvested earlier can balance Pinotage’s often softer acidity. This creates a fruit-driven, spicy red wine with a dense structure.
Its typical home is South Africa, including Stellenbosch, Paarl and Swartland. In the glass, the cuvée is usually deep ruby-red to purple. The style ranges from approachable and juicy to concentrated and oak-driven. The tannins, fruit concentration and balanced acidity of both varieties can create ageing potential . It pairs well with quickly seared meat, grilled dishes or spicy vegetable dishes.
