Klein Constantia
The historic Winery Klein Constantia, nestled in the breathtaking Constantia Valley, is renowned for its deep connection to South Africa’s wine heritage. It is the timeless producer of the legendary natural sweet wine Vin de Constance, which has enchanted palates across every continent for centuries and earned royal acclaim. The Winery Klein Constantia continues this tradition to this day.
The vineyards of Klein Constantia are dramatically set into the mountainside and benefit from the unique climatic influence of False Bay. These conditions give the grapes exceptional character. This distinctive terroir produces wines of elegance, structure and a vivid sense of place, reflecting the Winery’s commitment to capturing the essence of its origins.
The flagship grape variety here is Muscat de Frontignan , which is used to craft the celebrated Vin de Constance . Alongside this sweet wine, the Winery also produces excellent Sauvignon Blanc.
Translation missing: en.Tasting notes
The Vin de Constance from Klein Constantia presents a bright golden-yellow colour. The nose reveals intense aromas of apricots, mangoes and candied oranges, accompanied by nutmeg and delicate citrus notes. On the palate, it displays a silky texture with perfectly integrated acidity that highlights ripe peach and mango flavours, complemented by subtle spices. The finish is long and harmonious, with a lively balance between sweetness and acidity. An outstanding, complex sweet wine with impressive depth.

Muscat de Frontignan
Muscat de Frontignan is an aromatic white grape variety with a distinctive, pronounced grapey character. Typical notes include orange blossom, ripe citrus fruit and nutmeg, complemented by peach and honey depending on ripeness. Its generally moderate acidity gives the fragrant fruit definition; tannins play little role. Sweet versions are often soft and full-bodied, while dry wines tend to be more linear and spicy.
The variety is particularly closely associated with Frontignan in the south of France’s Languedoc region, where it is traditionally used to make fortified sweet wines. South Africa also has a long tradition of growing this variety. The range spans fresh, floral styles to more mature, honeyed ones. In the glass, the wine is usually pale yellow to gold, turning amber with extended ageing. Dry versions pair well with spicy vegetable dishes, while sweet ones go well with fruit desserts or cheese.
