La Motte
The historic La Motte Winery in the Franschhoek wine region, South Africa, has a long history dating back to 1695. It is known for its outstanding wines, especially its South African Syrah/Shiraz and South African Sauvignon Blanc, which reflect the terroir of the Franschhoek region .
In addition to wine production, the estate offers cultural and culinary experiences. Visitors can explore the museum, which highlights the history of La Motte and the region, or enjoy seasonal dishes at the Pierneef a La Motte restaurant. The offering is rounded out by walking trails through landscaped gardens showcasing the indigenous flora.

The Cabernet Sauvignon from La Motte Winery flows into the glass with a complex yet smooth structure. An elegant, typically South African Cabernet Sauvignon red wine that excellently reflects the characteristics of the grape variety.
The deep red colour and rich extract are testament to a great vintage for red wines. An intense, varietal bouquet with aromas of blackcurrant, violets, mint and plum.
The La Motte Cabernet Sauvignon has a full body, which, combined with intense fruit, is sure to bring a smile to any wine lover's face.
Grape Variety
Chenin Blanc is a widely cultivated, old white wine grape variety that has been grown in France (in Anjou – Touraine) since the 9th century. Compared to other white wine grape varieties, this variety is very productive. This leads to a very high quality of the white wine when reduced on the vine.
In South Africa, Chenin Blanc is the most widely grown white wine grape variety. The reason for this is primarily the very high diversity. For example, there are "wild-growing" vines (so-called Bush Vines) that are usually not irrigated. For this reason, the vines penetrate very deep into the ground with their roots to reach water. These Chenin Blancs therefore have a stronger depth and complexity.
The grape variety can also be aged very fresh and fruity in stainless steel tanks, developing into a very nice summer wine. Through the Aged in oak barrels, one obtains very complex and full-bodied white wines. The aromas of Chenin Blanc wines range from peach, apricot, and tropical fruits to honey and melon.
