The La Motte Hanneli R red wine is a first-class wine from South Africa. This wine is named after Hanneli Rupert-Koegelenberg, a notable figure in the South African wine industry.
The Hanneli R is a Cuvée of the grape varieties Shiraz, Grenache and Petit Syrah. It impresses with its deep red color and displays a complex array of aromas. On the nose it reveals notes of dark berries, black cherries, spices and a hint of cedarwood.

Shiraz, Grenache, Petit Syrah
This cuvée combines ripe fruit and spice with firm structure. Shiraz and Grenache often create a spectrum of blackberries, cherries and raspberries, complemented by peppery notes. Grenache contributes fruit richness and a supple body, while Shiraz together with Petit Syrah mainly adds colour, density and tannin . Petit Syrah can also strengthen the acidity; how fresh the blend feels depends largely on the site, ripeness and ageing.
In the glass, the cuvée is usually deep ruby red to violet, while the palate is fuller-bodied, with noticeable tannins. The varieties involved are found, among other places, in South Africa and California; this combination does not indicate a classic region of origin. The style ranges from fruit-forward and approachable to concentrated and shaped by ageing. It pairs well with quickly seared meat, hearty vegetable dishes or mature cheese.
