The Winery Glen Carlou is a renowned and respected one Winery, which is in the picturesque Paarl wine region is located in South Africa. Since his Founded in 1985 It has developed a reputation for high quality wines and is known for its variety of excellent grape varieties.
The location of the winery at the foot of the Simonsberg Mountains offers ideal climatic conditions and a varied soil diversity, which make it possible to grow a wide range of wines. Glen Carlou follows a sustainable and environmentally conscious winemaking philosophy, carefully tending the vines and respecting the natural resources of the terroir.
Glen Carlou produces a variety of wines including first-class red wines such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir as well outstanding white wines like Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Each wine reflects the characteristics of the terroir and displays impressive balance, depth and elegance.

Winemaker: Johnnie Calitz
After studying viticulture at the University of Stellenbosch, which he completed with a Bachelor of Science in 2004, he worked as a winemaker in the Glen Carlou neighboring Winery Anura and received several awards for his wines. Johnny Calitz prefers to work with the grape varieties Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc, but regardless of the grape variety, he follows the approach to intervene in the process as little as possible.

Mr. Shumba Cabernet Sauvignon is an impressive red wine from South Africa that stands out for its... powerful and expressive personality impresses. This year presents the characteristic properties of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape in a remarkable way.
The nose unfolds Mr. Shumba Cabernet Sauvignon tempting aromas of ripe black currants, juicy blackberries and dark cherries. These are accompanied fruity notes from one fine seasoning, which gives the wine a additional depth gives.
The wine shows itself on the palate full-bodied and concentrated with good integrated tannins. The supple texture and the balanced acid structure provide for one pleasant balance and make it a harmonious pleasure.

CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Originating in Bordeaux, France, Cabernet Sauvignon boasts a history of nearly 400 years, which is relatively short compared to other grape varieties.
The grape variety Cabernet Sauvignon is, as the name suggests, a crossbreed between the red wine grape variety Cabernet Franc and the white wine grape variety Sauvignon Blanc. Nowadays, Cabernet Sauvignon is counted among the most cultivated grape varieties worldwide, along with Merlot. The cultivation area within South Africa covers approximately 13,000 hectares. A significant portion of the cultivation takes place in Stellenbosch, east of Cape Town.
Cabernet Sauvignon is characterized primarily by its distinctive bouquet. With aromas of blackcurrant, the grape variety delights with its fruity notes, often mixed with a hint of green bell pepper. This grape variety is highly regarded for its unique aging, which can produce hints of vanilla and pleasant toasty aromas.
Traditionally, Cabernet Sauvignon is aged in small, bulbous oak barrels (barriques), which also have an influence on the taste of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety. Young wines are especially known for their licorice notes, while older vintages increasingly remind one of bell pepper in the finish.

Eine günstigere und nicht viel aufwendigere Alternative ist, sich den Wein ins deutsche Grenzgebiet liefern zu lassen und die Verzollung selbst vorzunehmen. Du erhältst dann die deutsche MwSt zurück, hast eine Freimenge von 5 Liter pro Person und zahlst 2 CHF Zoll für jeden weiteren Liter.
Zudem liefern wir frachtkostenfrei ab 120€ innerhalb Deutschlands. Des weiteren musst Du Dich nicht mit dem Paketdienst abstimmen und sicherstellen, dass jemand da ist, sobald die Lieferung eintrifft.
Wenn Du keine Möglichkeit hast, die Ware zu Freunden ins Grenzgebiet liefern zu lassen, dann können wir den Wein in einen UPS Access Point in Grenznähe nahe zu Deinem Wohnort liefern lassen. Du brauchst Dich nicht zu registrieren, es entstehen keine weiteren Kosten und Du musst nur Deine Weine innerhalb eines gewissen Zeitrahmens dort abholen.
