Bright red-fruit aromas are layered with notes of red peppercorn and delicate rose petals. Lively and crisp on the palate, it is supported by juicy tannins and a refreshing finish that offers both vibrancy and elegance. Vintage: The 2024 vintage followed a cool, wet winter in 2023, which provided excellent soil moisture reserves at the start of the growing season. Summer conditions were warm, dry and windy, with irrigation in January proving essential to maintaining vine health. Yields were below average, but berry quality was exceptional, producing concentrated flavours with balanced acidity. Vinification: The grapes were destemmed and left as whole berries in stainless steel tanks before fermentation. Gentle extraction was achieved by pumping over twice daily, increasing this when needed to introduce more oxygen. Dried stems were added back during fermentation for extra aromatic complexity and a perfumed character. After fermentation, the wine was pressed and matured for 8-10 months in a combination of barrels and ceramic clay amphorae. Viticulture: Sourced from some of the oldest bush vines in the Paarl region. These low-yielding vineyards produce only 3-4 tonnes per hectare. Although yields are modest, the result is exceptional-quality fruit with high aromatic concentration and minimal sunburn. The maturity and resilience of these vines contribute to the wine’s depth, complexity and distinctive regional character.
