a traditional Winery Eenzaamheid in the South African Agter-Paarl region has been in the hands of the same family since 1693. Today Janno Briers-Louw, a recognized Cape Wine Master, runs the estate in the seventh generation. His philosophy is closely connected to the old dry vineyards, where great wines grow directly in the vineyard. The vines thrive without artificial irrigation, resulting in concentrated aromas and intense layers of flavor.
Handcrafted winemaking at Eenzaamheid focuses on small quantities, with each grape batch carefully sorted and processed separately. The production of the Chenin Blanc is also particularly noteworthy. The special Terroir of Agter-Paarl, with its Mediterranean climate and deep-rooted shale soils , shapes the unique character of the wines, including the Pinotage.
Janno Briers-Louw, which developed his expertise in oenology at the University Stellenbosch and combines time-honored methods with international experience. This is how expressive wines are made with the distinctive character of the region, such as the deep-dark Shiraz.

The Shiraz 2016 from the Winery Eenzaamheid is a full-bodied wine with intense aromas and a distinct spiciness.
On the nose, this wine presents aromas of red fruits, pepper, and licorice. On the palate, flavors of cherry and blueberry dominate.
Despite its great aging potential (8-12 years), this wine can already be enjoyed excellently now. With its elegant structure, the Shiraz 2016 from Winery Eenzaamheid can compete with big names worldwide. Its price-performance ratio is unbeatable.

Grape Variety
Chenin Blanc is a widely cultivated, old white wine grape variety that has been grown in France (in Anjou – Touraine) since the 9th century. Compared to other white wine grape varieties, this variety is very productive. This leads to a very high quality of the white wine when reduced on the vine.
In South Africa, Chenin Blanc is the most widely grown white wine grape variety. The reason for this is primarily the very high diversity. For example, there are "wild-growing" vines (so-called Bush Vines) that are usually not irrigated. For this reason, the vines penetrate very deep into the ground with their roots to reach water. These Chenin Blancs therefore have a stronger depth and complexity.
The grape variety can also be aged very fresh and fruity in stainless steel tanks, developing into a very nice summer wine. Through the Aged in oak barrels, one obtains very complex and full-bodied white wines. The aromas of Chenin Blanc wines range from peach, apricot, and tropical fruits to honey and melon.
