Avontuur
The renowned Winery Avontuur is located in the well-known wine region Stellenbosch, in South Africa. It is known for its long history and the production of high-quality wines. The estate combines winemaking with stud breeding, creating a unique combination.
Avontuur focuses on different grape varieties, with the Cabernet Sauvignon playing a leading role. The wines stand out for their elegance and their ageing potential, and they reflect the terroir. In addition to red wines, white wines such as Chardonnay and a Méthode Cap Classique sparkling wine are also produced.
The estate is also known for its culinary offerings, which round out the wine experience. Avontuur is a great example of the connection between tradition and innovation in South African winemaking.
Translation missing: en.Tasting Notes
The Marydown Rosé from Avontuur entices with an intoxicating scent of crushed summer berries. On the palate, the wine is juicy and soft, with intense aromas of ripe strawberries, raspberries, and mulberries. A fine hint of spice gives the rosé additional depth, while the lively freshness, balanced structure, and intense fruit persist into the fresh, harmonious finish. An elegant rosé with summery lightness and clear fruit definition.

Blanc de Noir
Blanc de Noir is not a grape variety in its own right, but refers to a light-coloured wine made from dark grapes. Gentle pressing and brief contact with the grape skins allow only small amounts of colour and tannins to enter the must. In the glass, it is usually pale yellow, occasionally with a delicate rosé or copper hue. Typical aromas include apple, pear and citrus fruit, sometimes complemented by subtle notes of red berries. Fresh acidity often meets a smooth body, while tannin is usually barely perceptible.
This winemaking method is particularly common in Germany and France; in Champagne it plays an important role in sparkling wines. Depending on its origin and ageing, the style ranges from light and straightforward to full-bodied and creamy. It pairs well with uncomplicated dishes featuring vegetables, fish or white meat.
