Cloudy Bay

The Winery Cloudy Bay was founded in 1985 by David Hohnen and Kevin Judd in Marlborough The very first vintage of Sauvignon Blanc brought New Zealand international acclaim and laid the foundation for the winery’s success. Today, it is one of New Zealand’s most prestigious wineries, renowned worldwide for its exceptional quality.

The philosophy of Winery Cloudy Bay is to create wines that reflect the uniqueness of their growing region. Alongside the famous Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa Cloudy Bay also offers Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pelorus traditional-method sparkling wine Since 2009, the outstanding Te Wahi Pinot Noir have also been produced in Central Otago.

Cloudy Bay’s vineyards in the heart of the Wairau Valley in Marlborough benefit from ideal conditions, with gravelly soils and a maritime climate. While the vineyards in Central Otago are already farmed organically, the team in Marlborough is also trialling sustainable practices. Cloudy Bay is also a founding member of Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand.
