This cuvée combines the freshness and aromatic precision of Sauvignon Blanc with the fullness and texture of Sémillon. Sauvignon Blanc usually contributes lively acidity along with notes of citrus fruit, gooseberry and herbs ; Sémillon adds yellow fruit, softer contours and body. The result is a combination of juicy drive and supple structure. The acidity supports longevity, while Sémillon, given suitable origins and Aged, contributes waxy, nutty and honeyed maturation aromas as it develops.

The combination is classically associated with Bordeaux, for dry white wines from Graves and Pessac-Léognan, for example, as well as sweet wines from Sauternes and Barsac. In the glass, the colour ranges from pale straw yellow to gold, depending on the style. The style ranges from fresh and linear to creamy and oak-influenced; tannin usually plays a minor role. Dry versions pair with fish and poultry, while sweet wines pair with blue cheese.
