Holden Manz Wine Estate
The Winery Holden Manz in the picturesque wine region Franschhoek is known for its outstanding red wine cuvées and elegant single-varietal wines. Nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of South Africa, it benefits from a unique terroir shaped by its altitude and soil conditions.
On estate-owned vineyards, classic grape varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah are grown first and foremost. But wines made from Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc are also known for their quality.
The winery focuses on sustainable farming and gentle handling of the grapes. The wines, including specialties like the Holden Manz Visionaire, are often praised for their structure, complexity, and aging potential.

The "Elysium" from the Winery Holden Manz is a co-fermented wine made from the grape varieties Merlot and Syrah. Since these two grape varieties rarely ripen simultaneously at the Winery Holden Manz in Franschhoek, the Elysium can only be produced in special years.
Aromas of strawberry, dark cherry, and nuances of Chocolate make the Holden Manz Elysium a truly unique taste experience.
The two grape varieties were handpicked by the Winemaker Thierry Haberer on March 10 and then sorted in such a way that only the optimally ripe berries were used for this wine.
Only 800 bottles were produced by Elysium. Therefore, this wine is a true rarity. Its complete and balanced structure ensures an excellent aging potential until 2035.

Merlot and Syrah
This cuvée combines the soft, abundant fruit of Merlot with the spicy structure of Syrah. Merlot often contributes plum, dark cherry and supple tannins; Syrah adds Blackberry, black pepper and firmer tannins. Together, they produce a full-bodied red wine whose richness is balanced by acidity. Syrah can contribute additional freshness, while the site and ripeness significantly influence the acidity of both varieties.
These cuvées are found, among other places, in southern France. Their style ranges from fruit-forward and approachable to dense and shaped by ageing. In the glass, they usually appear deep ruby red with violet reflections. Merlot can soften Syrah's more pronounced tannin structure; concentration, supporting acidity and ripe tannins together create the conditions for ageing potential, although not every wine requires extended cellaring.
They pair well with briefly pan-fried or braised meat, roasted vegetables and spicy legume dishes.
