Tasting Note

The Zinfandel red wine from Idiom Winery impresses with fragrant notes of golden sultanas and fresh rosemary tips, followed by dried sage and a hint of anise. On the palate, juicy cranberry, delicate herbal spice and subtle sweetness bring the fruit into clear focus. The texture is silky and smooth. Ripe, fine-grained tannins provide structure without weighing it down. Subtle oak nuances from French and American oak add notes of vanilla and spice. The acidity keeps the profile fresh and inviting. The finish is long, elegant and spicy-fruity.

Composition:

100% Zinfandel

Zinfandel grape variety

Zinfandel, known as Primitivo in Italy, produces aromatic red wines full of charm. Typical aromas include dark berries such as Blackberry and black cherry, along with cranberry, plum, a touch of pepper and anise. Usually medium- to full-bodied on the palate, with juicy fruit, moderate acidity and soft, ripe tannins. Short to medium oak aging adds vanilla, caramel and subtle spice without obscuring the freshness. In Stellenbosch, Zinfandel shows ripe fruit and good balance, often with an elegant, silky mouthfeel and a long, spicy-fruity finish.
