The Old Road Wine Company was founded in the heart of the Franschhoek-Valley in South Africa. The winery is guided by a vision to create wines that reflect both the rich history and unique terroir of this renowned wine region. A particular focus is on producing quality wines that express the valley’s distinctive climate and soils.
Known for its diverse grape varieties, each is carefully selected and cultivated. Standout varieties include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc, which highlight the quality of the white wines. Among the red wines, Pinotage, Shiraz and Pinot Noir.
The Old Road Wine Company combines tradition with modern winemaking techniques to produce wines of consistency and finesse.

It all began on “Old Road.” “Old Road” tells not only the story of a winery and its vineyards, but also of an extraordinary town, Franschhoek, and the historical figures who shaped it.
Conceived by an investor group led by Tim Hutchinson, Old Road Wine Co. now produces wines that pay tribute to the heritage of the Franschhoek Valley, with its precious old vines and fascinating, unique stories. All the wines are made in a cellar that proudly stands on the town’s old main road. The wines bring to life the characters and traders around whom a famous industry was founded.

As soon as you turn onto “Old Road,” you’re taken on a journey of discovery. Old Road Wine Company opened in December 2018 and has since become known as an up-and-coming winery. Old Road Wine Company is the perfect destination in Franschhoek, framed by a 180-degree view of the magnificent Franschhoek Mountains, between the railway line and the town’s old main road.
