Val de Vie
The Winery Val de Vie lies in the picturesque Paarl-Franschhoek Valley, a region in South Africa, also known as "Valley of Life". The history of the country goes back to the early 1600s, when the Huguenot descendant Abraham Andries le Roux brought his extensive knowledge of winegrowing to the region. Since then, the ideal climate, with a blend of cool and warm winds, has played an important role in producing Val de Vie wines.
Val de Vie is dedicated to producing wines of the highest quality while paying tribute to the sport of polo. The L’Huguenot Vinoteque is home to the exclusive Val de Vie and Polo Club wines. The wines are bottled in the 100-ton capacity L’Huguenot cellar on the estate. Val de Vie’s collection includes three refined, timeless cuvées, while the Polo Club-range consists of four different cuvées, including wines made from the grape variety Pinotage, and a perfect complement to every palate.
The region Paarl-Franschhoek Valley offers ideal conditions for winemaking. The unique terroir and the different microclimates contribute to the complexity and variety of Val de Vie wines. The winery invites you to enjoy the wines in a world-class setting and discover the beauty of the valley.

The Barista Pinotage 2024 from the Winery Val de Vie is also known as Coffee Pinotage. On the nose, this unique red wine is characterized by intense red berries and coffee beans. On the palate, flavors of cherry and pomegranate convince, giving the Val de Vie Barista Pinotage a very special note.
The long-lasting finish is accompanied by a soft tannin structure. This Pinotage is without a doubt one of the best "Coffee-style Pinotages" from South Africa.

Grape Variety
Chenin Blanc is a widely cultivated, old white wine grape variety that has been grown in France (in Anjou – Touraine) since the 9th century. Compared to other white wine grape varieties, this variety is very productive. This leads to a very high quality of the white wine when reduced on the vine.
In South Africa, Chenin Blanc is the most widely grown white wine grape variety. The reason for this is primarily the very high diversity. For example, there are "wild-growing" vines (so-called Bush Vines) that are usually not irrigated. For this reason, the vines penetrate very deep into the ground with their roots to reach water. These Chenin Blancs therefore have a stronger depth and complexity.
The grape variety can also be aged very fresh and fruity in stainless steel tanks, developing into a very nice summer wine. Through the Aged in oak barrels, one obtains very complex and full-bodied white wines. The aromas of Chenin Blanc wines range from peach, apricot, and tropical fruits to honey and melon.
