Thelema Mountain Vineyards
The Winery Thelema, founded in 1983 by Gyles and Barbara Webb , is a renowned estate in the picturesque wine region Stellenbosch, South Africa. Located on the slopes of the Simonsberg, it has established itself with its consistent quality as a benchmark for winegrowing in the Cape region.
Thelema Mountain Vineyards focuses on classic grape varieties. Particularly noteworthy are the precise Chardonnay from South Africa and the concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon from South Africa, which receive international recognition.
In addition to these classics, the elegant Pinot Noir from South Africa and the fresh Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa complete the range. A visit gives you the opportunity to enjoy the unique landscape and the excellent wines.

The Mountain Red 2019 from Winery Thelema shows inviting aromas of fresh dark fruit, blackberries, plums and a touch of spice. After 18 months Aged in French barrique the Mountain Red on the palate is soft and juicy with well-rounded tannins and a long, delicious finish.

Shiraz, Petit Verdot, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon
This cuvée combines ripe fruit and spice with supporting structure. Shiraz and Grenache can contribute primarily juicy berry fruit, plum, peppery notes and body. Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot often complement this with blackcurrant, dark fruit, firm tannins and colour depth; their acidity can lend the blend freshness and tension. Depending on the origin and Aged, this results in either a more approachable, fruit-driven red wine or a dense, austere one with a pronounced structure.
In the glass, the cuvée is usually deep red to purple, often full-bodied on the palate with a spicy finish. The combination cannot be clearly assigned to a classic origin; it suits cuvée styles from warmer growing regions, such as South Africa or Southern France, where these varieties are cultivated. Ripeness and Aged shape the balance between fruit richness, freshness and tannins. It pairs well with briefly pan-fried or braised meat, as well as hearty vegetable dishes.
