Viognier grape variety
Viognier originates in the Rhône Valley and produces aromatic white wines with a rich texture. In Stellenbosch, abundant sunshine and maritime influences bring together ripe fruit and refreshing freshness. Typical aromas include apricot, peach, orange blossom, acacia blossom and a hint of honey or chamomile. On the palate, Viognier is often creamy and rounded, with moderate acidity. Aged in stainless steel, it is fragrant and straightforward. Brief ageing in mostly used barriques adds a supple texture, subtle spice notes and length without obscuring the varietal character.
