Winery Noble Hill
The Winery Noble Hill is located on the picturesque slopes of the Simonsberg in Paarl, South Africa. It is known for its artisanally produced wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region. Noble Hill places great emphasis on sustainable viticulture and produces wines with character and elegance.
The range includes Chenin Blanc, Shiraz, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Particularly noteworthy is the use of the sur lie technique, which gives the wines depth. The philosophy of the Winery is based on the combination of innovation and tradition.
Visitors can enjoy the wines at a tasting in the restaurant Cosecha, which is known for its Latin American-inspired dishes. Additionally, the Winery invites guests to explore the surrounding landscape on guided tours.
Tasting notes
The Viognier from the Winery Noble Hill is a complex and elegant white wine that impresses with its expressive aroma.
In the nose, ripe peach aromas unfold, accompanied by orange blossom and a hint of cantaloupe. The fruity and floral notes are complemented by a subtle, mineral spice.
On the palate, the wine has a soft, creamy texture and a well-balanced freshness. The aromas of stone fruits and citrus are carried by a fine, persistent spiciness. The finish is long and harmonious.
Grape Variety
Chenin Blanc is a widely cultivated, old white wine grape variety that has been grown in France (in Anjou – Touraine) since the 9th century. Compared to other white wine grape varieties, this variety is very productive. This leads to a very high quality of the white wine when reduced on the vine.
In South Africa, Chenin Blanc is the most widely grown white wine grape variety. The reason for this is primarily the very high diversity. For example, there are "wild-growing" vines (so-called Bush Vines) that are usually not irrigated. For this reason, the vines penetrate very deep into the ground with their roots to reach water. These Chenin Blancs therefore have a stronger depth and complexity.
The grape variety can also be aged very fresh and fruity in stainless steel tanks, developing into a very nice summer wine. Through the Aged in oak barrels, one obtains very complex and full-bodied white wines. The aromas of Chenin Blanc wines range from peach, apricot, and tropical fruits to honey and melon.
