Fryer's Cove
Fryer's Cove is the only Winery in the region Bamboes Bay, South Africa’s smallest wine-growing region. The vines stretch across the hills, just 500 metres from the Atlantic coast. The unique location near the fishing village of Doringbaai, shaped by cool sea breezes and rugged terroir, gives the wines, especially South African Sauvignon Blanc, their distinctive maritime character. The philosophy “Forged of the earth, Tempered by the sea” reflects the close connection with nature.
These special climatic conditions create an ideal environment for growing varieties such as South African Chenin Blanc and South African Pinot Noir. Alongside Sauvignon Blanc , Grenache and Cinsault are also grown. The Winery is the closest to the sea in South Africa, which is clearly reflected in the taste of the wines.
The Jetty Restaurant is part of the Fryer's Cove Community Development Project and offers the opportunity to enjoy the wines in their natural setting, paired with local specialities such as Snoekkoekies or Kerrievis.

The nose opens with fresh, vibrant aromas of lime and tropical fruit, accompanied by a clear grassy note. On the palate, the wine is crisp and precise, with lively acidity that brings plenty of freshness. The fruit is juicy and direct, while the cool, slightly saline style highlights its maritime character and leads to a clean, refreshing finish.

Sauvignon Blanc
Sauvignon Blanc is an internationally widespread and popular white grape variety. In the glass, it usually shows a pale yellow colour with greenish reflections. It is characterised by intense, fresh aromas of gooseberry, grass, green apple, sometimes also lime and passion fruit. These are often accompanied by a mineral note.
This grape variety is distinguished by a lively, often crisp acidity that gives the wine freshness and length. The wines are generally made in a dry style, with a lean to medium-bodied structure and no noticeable tannins. They are known for their distinctive, unmistakable character.
Originally from the Loire Valley in France, Sauvignon Blanc is now grown in many wine regions around the world, including New Zealand, Bordeaux, South Africa and Chile. It pairs beautifully with salads, fish dishes and seafood.
