Grape Variety Viognier
Viognier originates from the Rhône Valley and produces aromatic white wines with a rich texture. In Stellenbosch, many hours of sunshine and maritime influence combine ripe fruit with invigorating freshness. Typical aromas are apricot, peach, orange blossom, acacia blossom, and a hint of honey or chamomile. On the palate, Viognier often feels creamy and round with moderate acidity. In stainless steel tanks, it shows a fragrant and straightforward character. A short maturation in mostly used barriques adds more creaminess, fine spice notes, and length without overshadowing the varietal character.
