Holden Manz Wine Estate
The Winery Holden Manz in the picturesque wine region Franschhoek is known for its outstanding red wine cuvées and elegant single-varietal wines. Nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of South Africa, it benefits from a unique terroir shaped by its altitude and soil conditions.
On estate-owned vineyards, classic grape varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah are grown first and foremost. But wines made from Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc are also known for their quality.
The winery focuses on sustainable farming and gentle handling of the grapes. The wines, including specialties like the Holden Manz Visionaire, are often praised for their structure, complexity, and aging potential.

The Big G from the Winery Holden Manz, named after owner Gerard Holden, is an intense and concentrated red wine with a ruby-red core. This cuvée is characterized by a true explosion of fruit.
Black currants, mulberries, and plums pair with the finest chocolate aromas. A hint of vanilla and cigar box, as well as black pepper and spices blend on the palate into a delightful harmony.
With pleasant tannins, gentle acidity, and a long-lasting finish accompanied by dark fruits, the Holden Manz Big G impresses on all levels and rightly carries the "Big" in its name.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot & Cabernet Franc
This cuvée combines dark fruit, spicy freshness and supporting structure. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot complement each other with aromas of blackcurrant, cherry and plum: While the former generally contributes colour and firm tannins, Merlot often brings fullness and a softer texture. Cabernet Franc often adds herbaceous, finely peppery accents and supports the freshness. Acidity and tannins give the blend definition without any one variety needing to dominate the flavour.
The combination is particularly well known from Bordeaux , but is also found in Tuscany and other international wine regions. In the glass, it is usually ruby red to deep dark red. Depending on the climate and ageing, the style ranges from fresh and focused to full-bodied and smooth; oak can contribute additional toasted and spicy notes. It pairs well with roasted meat, mushroom dishes or mature cheese.
