Kleinood
The South African Winery Kleinood is located in the remote and picturesque Bot River Region, where it has been run with dedication by Gerard de Villiers and his family since its founding in 2000. The Bot River Region is known for its cool breezes from the Atlantic, which create ideal conditions for growing grape varieties inspired by Mediterranean climates. This is reflected in wines of great elegance and freshness. Kleinood is committed to producing wines that reflect the region’s unique terroir and biodiversity.
Vineyard management follows sustainable principles to protect and nurture the natural environment. The winery focuses on producing quality wines that are authentic and expressive. A particular hallmark is its specialisation in the grape variety Shiraz.
The winery is especially known for its Tambourine Mountain Syrah, which captures the essence of the winery and the region. These wines are made thoughtfully and with respect for nature, resulting in distinctive quality that delights both connoisseurs and newcomers.
Translation missing: en.Tasting notes
The nose reveals fragrant aromas of orange blossom and juicy mandarin, complemented by delicate notes of ripe cantaloupe. On the palate, the wine is fresh and clearly structured, with lively acidity that elegantly carries the fruit. A touch of creaminess through the mid-palate brings balance, while the finish is finely fruity and harmonious.

Grenache
The grape variety Grenache (known as Garnacha in Spanish) is one of the most widely planted red varieties in the world and thrives especially well in warm climates. Grenache wines often have an appealing ruby-red colour and offer typical aromas of red berries such as raspberry and strawberry, complemented by notes of white pepper, herbs and sometimes a hint of liquorice or orange marmalade.
They are typically characterised by a full body and often mild tannins, together with moderate acidity. This gives the wines a smooth, approachable texture. Grenache can be made as a single-varietal wine, for example in the southern Rhône valleys or in Spain, where it is often part of famous blends.
Grenache wines are versatile food pairings, working well with Mediterranean dishes, grilled meat or strong cheeses.
