Translation missing: en.Tasting notes
The Rubaiyat from the Winery De Grendel has a mild-spicy aroma with nuances of roasted black olives, wild Fynbos, red berries, and black plums.
The palate is pure and rich with excellent concentration and intensity. The tannins are finely structured, leading to a full-bodied wine with a long-lasting finish.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc
This cuvée brings together dark fruit, spice and supporting tannins. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot often show aromas of blackcurrants and plums: the former provides tannic structure, while the latter tends to contribute fullness and a smooth core of fruit. Petit Verdot can enhance colour, acidity and spicy depth; Cabernet Franc often adds herbal notes and freshness. Together, they create an interplay of body, firm structure and refreshing acidity.
The varieties are particularly associated with Bordeaux , but are also used together in California, Chile and South Africa . The combination alone does not indicate a specific origin. Depending on the climate and Aged, the style ranges from taut and herbaceous to ripe and full-bodied. In the glass, it usually shows a deep ruby red with violet highlights.
It pairs well with quickly seared or braised meat, hearty vegetable dishes and mature cheese.
