Ruinart

The House Ruinart was founded on 1 September 1729 by Nicolas Ruinart and is considered the oldest Champagne house. Its founding came during the Age of Enlightenment and the French “art de vivre”, when a culture of refinement and elegance was taking shape. Dom Thierry Ruinart, the founder’s uncle, recognised the potential of “wine with bubbles” early on.

Ruinart is committed to excellence and has chosen Chardonnay as the guiding theme for all its cuvées. This rare grape variety gives the champagnes their characteristic elegance and purity. The cuvées mature in chalk cellars 38 metres deep, stretching over 8 km. The terroir of Champagne has a defining influence on the house style, particularly the vineyards in the Montagne de Reims.

In 1764, Ruinart created Ruinart Rosé, the world’s first rosé champagne. Since 2020, Ruinart has been committed to sustainability with recyclable “Second Skin” packaging.
