Avondale Wine Estate
Winery Avondale, set within the majestic backdrop of the Klein Drakenstein Mountains, stands as a shining example of sustainable farming. Under the expert guidance of cellar master Corne Kruger , the winery is cultivated in harmony with the natural rhythms, using biodynamic methods that promote a deep sense of harmony between soil, vine, and the entire ecosystem.
The winery offers an impressive selection of elegant wines. These include the distinctive Chenin Blanc, expressive Syrah and expertly composed cuvées, all of which reflect the vibrancy of this unique Franschhoek-terroir.
Translation missing: en.Tasting notes
The red wine La Luna from the Winery Avondale shows an intense red color and entices with notes of black currant, Blackberry, dark cherry and tobacco, accompanied by a hint of cedarwood. On the palate, it presents itself complex and silky, with ripe tannin and a refreshing acidity, which gives the wine elegance. The long balanced finish recalls dark berries and spices.
Composition of this Cuvée
48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 4% Malbec, 4% Petit Verdot

Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot
This cuvée combines dark fruit, freshness and a supportive tannin structure. Merlot and Malbec often contribute juicy plum and berry aromas, fullness and a rounded fruit profile. Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot primarily provide structure, colour and spice; their tannins can lend the blend definition and length. Cabernet Franc often adds red fruit, herbal notes and freshness, while Petit Verdot can also support the acidity.
In the glass, the cuvée usually appears deep ruby-red to purple. Stylistic reference points include Bordeaux as well as international growing regions such as Argentina, Chile and California, although the combination of varieties does not determine a specific origin. Depending on the climate, ripeness and Aged, the style ranges from fresh and straightforward to full-bodied and soft; oak can add toasted and spicy notes. It pairs well with roast meat, mushroom dishes or mature cheese.
